Climb Slieve Donard 2017
A huge thank you to everyone who joined Cancer Fund for Children on Sunday 28th May and conquered Slieve Donard.
Your support will make a huge difference to the lives of local children and young people with cancer.
Over 260 of you laced up your boots and climbed Northern Ireland’s highest peak on Sunday 28th May.
It was an amazing day full of determination, spirit and great craic in aid of local families affected by cancer.
Thankfully the rain stayed off and the weather held out to make the views at the top all the sweeter.
Making A Difference
Every mile you conquered has made a huge difference to local families whose lives have been devastated by a cancer diagnosis.
The funds you’ve raised will enable our team of Specialists to provide a range of practical, emotional and financial support to families to help them cope with the impact cancer has on their lives.
We can also provide free therapeutic short breaks at Daisy Lodge, which is nestled right at the foot of the Mourne Mountains. These short breaks provide families with a place where they can spend quality time together away from the stresses of hospital visits and cancer treatment.
Despite the tired legs and exhaustion, there was lots of happy faces on the day. Our photographer was there to capture you as you made your way to the top.
Check out these amazing photos from a day to remember!
A massive thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success, especially to our friends at Hugh McCann’s in Newcastle for hosting us on the day, and to the team at Life Adventure Centre for guiding hikers and keeping us safe. A huge thank you also to our volunteers for giving up their time so generously!
Most importantly, thank you to each and every one of you that took on the challenge – you are amazing!
